There are two types of deportation:
- Charter deportations – group deportations by plane or by bus (often announced in advance)
For charter deportations, arrests can happen weeks before the flight. - Individual deportations – one person, sometimes without notice
How to Protect Yourself
If you are at risk of deportation:
- Do not sleep at your registered address
- Go to a legal counselling service immediately
- Ask people you trust for help
- Check announcements about planned charter deportations – arrests can happen weeks before the actual flight
- Carry flyers or phone numbers of support groups or your legal counsellor
How to Fight Deportation

If it is an individual deportation by plane:
- You can resist inside the airplane — for example by refusing to sit down.
- Tell the other passengers your story and ask them to support you.
- The pilot has the final decision — they can say “no” and refuse to take you if they see a risk.
