The law for foreigners in France is constantly evolving. It is becoming more and more complex, making the law less accessible to foreign nationals. It can be useful to have a team around you and it is important to get the right information before starting any procedure. What worked for someone you know, will not necessarily work for you.

If you are a foreigner and wish to stay in France: to obtain the right to live in France, without risking deportation, you need to obtain a residence permit (asylum application or residence permit application). Which one best for you depends on your personal situation. Many people live in France without legal status.

The first section (02. CONTACT) will give you access to the main contacts at national level, at border level and in the major French cities. You will find contacts of associations that can give you advice on a daily basis.
