Closed Camp:
In the case of a closed camp, you will spend several months arrested. There you will not have access to your phone (you will only be allowed to use the phone, which cannot record video or audio) and will have limited access to the Internet. The conditions there seem like prison. We can’t estimate how long it is going to take, but in the current situation it may take 2-3 months. But you need to be prepared that it may take longer (mostly up to 6 months, rarely up to year or longer, with maximum of 2 years).
Open Camp:
In case of open camp, you will be free to have your phone, internet, to leave the camp for short allocated periods of time, and all your belongings should be returned to you. You will have 48 hours to get to the assigned open camp in Poland.
Help in camps:
Both open and closed camps have lawyers on duty from time to time. Ask social workers or colleagues when the next lawyer’s duty will be at your camp. It’s worth consulting lawyers individually about your case and getting detailed information on how the refugee procedure works and how to prepare well for the status interview.
If you have experienced violence or are simply feeling mentally bad, ask at the center (or notify the lawyer) about a talk with psychologist.
