Health care for recognized refugees often denied in Romania.

Last update : September 2021

Theoretically, recognised refugees in Romania should have the same rights of access to medical services (and other services) as Romanian citizens.

However, in practice these rights are often denied and it is necessary to claim them (for example, with the support of NGOs who work on specific rights).

Primary medical assistance and emergency assistance should be free for grave illness.
