More or less in all bigger cities in Germany various groups and organisations are active in solidarity with refugees and migrants, offering also political, social and legal support. In the following list you will first find some most recommended self-organisations of refugees and migrants and also a few antiracist groups. Following some links to more specific initiatives concerning legal and medical aid as well as for labour and minors problems, you can find a list of the (more institutionalized) refugee councils, which are located all over Germany and might help to find useful contacts in every city.

Network of self organized refugees united in a solidarity struggle against bad living conditions, against deportation, Lager, vouchers… It offers explicitly no counselling, service etc. but was founded to fight together for equal rights. www.thecaravan.org

Café Exil Hamburg: offers counselling and support four days per week: Mo, Tue, Thurs, Fri 8 a.m. – 1 PM. Every Tuesday a caravan (the Infomobile) is placed close to the “Ausländerbehörde” (foreign office) and offers counselling and accompanying into the office. Refugee Initiative Bremen: We advise and support refugees and migrants – with and without papers. We assist in writing letters and objections. We prepare the hearing during the asylum procedure with you. We accompany you to public authorities. We establish contact to qualified lawyers. Woman can get advice by woman if desired. We speak English, French, German, Arabic, Turkish and Spanish. Interpreters for further languages can be inquired for. We demand: Equal social rights and the right of residence for everyone!
